APS Certificate

Academic verification for studying at FOM

If you obtained your school-leaving certificate or university qualification in India, China or Vietnam, you may require an APS certificate before studying in Germany. The Academic Evaluation Center, known by its German abbreviation APS, verifies academic documents and educational qualifications. The certificate confirms the outcome of this verification and is generally also required for the German student visa process.

Required steps

How do I get my APS certificate?

The application process depends on the country in which you obtained your academic qualifications. Please check the official information for India, China or Vietnam before applying.

Start your APS application early

We recommend starting the APS process as early as possible, ideally before submitting your application to FOM University of Applied Sciences. As the verification process can take several months, applying early helps ensure that your certificate is available in time for both your university application and your student visa application. This can reduce delays and make the overall process smoother.

dMAT for Master’s applicants from India

If you completed your undergraduate degree in India and plan to start a Master’s programme at FOM from the 2027 summer semester onwards, you may need to take the digital Master Test (dMAT) as part of the APS verification process.

The test assesses your general academic aptitude but does not have a pass or fail result. Your score will not affect your admission to FOM.

You will pay the test fee when you register, and FOM will reimburse the full amount during your studies by crediting it towards your tuition fees – a benefit offered by FOM to support you as you begin your studies.
