Combining theory and practice
Studying in the morning, getting to know the culture in the afternoon: the programme combined in-depth seminars with practical excursions to UNESCO World Heritage sites, companies and cultural highlights of the region.
The seminars not only provided students with valuable skills for international exchange and cooperation, but also important key competencies such as self-organisation, leadership skills and presentation techniques, which are crucial in both private and professional contexts.
In the afternoons and on weekends, students explored German culture and economy. Excursion destinations included Villa Hügel and the Stauder Brewery in Essen, the Friedrich Engels House in Wuppertal and the Gasometer in Oberhausen. Visits to the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Folkwang Museum also offered students deep insights into the history and culture of the Ruhr region. The Summer Academy ended with a festive closing ceremony, during which certificates were awarded.
A springboard for career and personal development
This year's Summer Academy was once again a resounding success: in addition to an intensive learning experience and inspiration for their professional and personal development, it also offered international students the opportunity to gain deep insights into German culture and economy and to strengthen their intercultural skills.
